    Managing Director, Portfolio Management

  • Oversaw integration of utility demand-side management programs, municipal & industrial interruptible contracts, and retail switching contracts into load forecast methodologies.
  • Responsible for price, weather and volume risk for all municipal and utility load contracts (peak load of 11,000 MW) to ensure appropriate electric load balancing.
  • Improved the day-ahead load forecast error from 5% to less than 3% resulting in significant savings.
  • Managed staff of meteorologists, load forecasters and analysts, and oversaw all communications with power trading, scheduling, transmission, legal, accounting and the hourly purchasing desk.
    Director, Commodity Structuring & Transaction Management
  • Responsible for commercial, year term and longer, power transactions, including the negotiating and restructuring of $300 million in unprofitable electric commodity positions which resulted in $13 million 1999 earnings improvement and  $18 million NPV creation.
  • Managed staff of analysts to structure complex forward and option based transactions with power marketers, developers and municipality customers.
  • Worked with legal to negotiate with the State Public Utility Commissions (PUC) and prepare testimony.
    Director, Strategic Marketing - Cinergy Business Solutions/Vestar
  • Launched Cinergy Business Solutions (Vestar), a $50 million (projected fifth year revenues) engineering services company.
  • Directed business plan development, financial scenario analysis, acquisition and alliance strategy, and secured corporate funding for the business start-up. Constructed competitive analysis of various engineering and energy efficiency companies and mechanical contractor consolidators.
  • Conducted valuation analysis and led due diligence teams on various engineering firm acquisitions. 
  • Implemented pilot and led start-up team to achieve $11 million in first year revenues. 
  • Worked with legal staff to secure SEC registration and state licensing of new corporation. 
    Manager, Product Management - Non-commodity
  • Managed start-up of Cinergy unregulated subsidiary (Cinergy Solutions) with a $25 million budget.
  • Directed 34 product managers and engineers responsible for the implementation, day-to-day operation, and life-cycle management of multiple product lines for business and residential electric customers.  
  • Directed the preparation of product profit and loss statements, and financial reports.
    Supervisor, Demand-side Management Services
  • Directed activities of ten program coordinators and engineers in developing and implementing demand-side management programs for business customers. 
  • Managed $10 million budget, including labor, advertising, contractor expenses and materials. 
  • Developed Sales goals and incentives to ensure energy conservation goal achievement. 
  • Responsible for reporting results to State Public Utility Commissions (PUC) and preparing testimony for PUC rate hearings.
    Program Manager, Pricing & Demand-side Management
  • Led collaborative team to develop a Real-time Pricing (RTP) Program to assist customers with making economic energy efficiency decisions based on hourly electric price signals.  Structured RTP Program for maximum utility profits, resulting in a $3 million revenue increase to Cinergy in the first year. 
  • Developed and implemented an Efficiency Audit Program offering industrial customers co-funding for productivity, energy and waste minimization.  Program resulted in a $1.5 million savings to customers. 
  • Testified before a Washington Congressional Committee to support industrial competitiveness programs.
  • Acted as liaison for R&D projects with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Sciences (IAMS).
    Lead Engineer, Technical Services
  • Developed and implemented a “Power Quality” Program to minimize and correct electrical power disturbances within customers’ facilities. 
  • Conducted various customer and trade ally educational seminars. 
  • Led team of sales and electric system engineers to structure an internal hi-tech diagnostic group as a resource for customers, resulting in savings of $1000-$100,000 per customer.
    Industrial Sales Engineer 
  • Supported and serviced Cinergy’s top industrial customers, including Siemens, Valvoline, City of Lebanon, Ohio and Dupont, with usage representing 20% of Cinergy’s electric revenues. 
  • Performed new construction, billing analysis, rate negotiations, energy management support and power system troubleshooting for assigned customer accounts.
THE PROCTER & GAMBLE COMPANY, Manufacturing Manager, Synthetic Granule DivisionCincinnati, Ohio
  • Supervised three-shift synthetic granules process operation and manufacturing budgets for the Tide, Cheer and Dash detergent brands. 
  • Responsible for the development, training, staffing, safety and discipline of 65 technicians. 
  • Oversaw implementation of technician team-based incentive system.
WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION, Electrical Engineering Intern, Appliance Division, Benton Harbor, Michigan & Danville, Kentucky
  • Designed, built and tested electronic controls for refrigerators, freezers, vacuum cleaners and dryers.
  • Programmed in machine code, BASICA, FORTRAN, PASCAL, VAX and UNIX.
